We invite you to join us in celebrating our planet and the environment on April 26th, 2026, at the Play Zone at Downsview Park. This event is free to the public. This event will take place rain or shine!
Bring your family and friends to enjoy some hands-on activities, opportunities to learn and connect with our education staff, vendors, and much more. This event is a great opportunity to learn about ways to reduce your environmental footprint, connect with like-minded individuals and organizations, and celebrate our planet.
We encourage you to sign up on Eventbrite to let us know you’re coming! Registration will be required to attend certain activities. Check back frequently as new activities may be added. French language service is available upon request. Please let us know.

Tree Planting with Nikibii Dawadinna Giigwag (NDG)
Group Planting - 1:00pm- 2:00pm *
*Registration will be required to attend. You only need 1 ticket per family. Please arrive 10 minutes before the session. Information about planting location will be provided closer to the day. All equipment will be provided. No experience necessary.
Litter Pick Up
Pick up your litter pick materials and help clean up the park from 12pm-4:30pm! Supplies to be picked up at the Costco tent. We suggest going along Keele, west side of the park, across the bridge to Arbo Woodlot and by the Lake and Orchard.

Guided Nature Walks by Toronto Field Naturalists
Toronto Field Naturalists will be guiding two nature walk sessions to talk about invasive species, ethical birding and more.
Toronto Field Naturalists is a volunteer-run non-profit and a member of the province-wide Ontario Nature network of naturalist organizations. They connect people with nature in the Toronto area. To help people understand, enjoy, and protect Toronto’s green spaces and the species that inhabit them.
There will be two sessions:
Session 1: 12:30 PM –1:30 PM
Session 2: 2:30 PM – 3:30 PM
*Registration will be required to attend.
Yoga on Earth Day
Melt away the stresses of the week by doing yoga in the Hub. These 1-hour classes are gentle, accessible, and suitable for all-levels! Complete beginners to advanced yogis are welcome! Participants must be 16 years of age or older. Participants under 18 must have permission from a legal guardian to participate.
Please bring a mat and water and wear comfortable clothing. Yoga props such as blocks, bolsters, straps and blankets are also encouraged!
Two sessions: 1-2pm and 3:30-4:30pm
Registration is required (will open beginning of April) and spots are limited.
Nature Play Item Donation
The Downsview Park Discovery Centre offers free community nature programs and low-cost field trips for thousands of children across the Greater Toronto Area, many from historically marginalized communities. One of our most loved programs is Nature Play, where kids use natural and recycled materials for creative, open-ended play. To help keep this program thriving, we’re asking for donations of durable, safe items made of metal, wood, fabric, or hard plastic (no sharp edges). Drop them off at the Downsview Park tent during our Earth Day event.
Also, if you donate, you will be entered into a contest for a prize!

Bicycle Repairs by Cycle York
Cycle York will be offering free minor bike repairs at the event! Ride your bike in (if you can) and tune it up in time for warming cycling weather.
Cycle York Community Bike Centre located in the Black Creek neighbourhood of Toronto. They are a DIY community bike space, a cycling advocacy, education and social group running under Regenesis York that works towards advocating for cyclists’ needs and services in the community. They offer free access to repair facilities and mechanic instructors, and offer cycling-related events such as bike rides, learn-to-rides and workshops.

FAQ
How do I get to the Park?
We encourage you to reduce your environmental footprint by walking, biking or taking public transit to our event. 😊 Find out how to get to the park!
If you do come by car, please park on the gravel pad (P1) by the Festival Terrace. To get there, turn onto John Drury Dr from Sheppard Ave West, and then continue straight at the intersection of John Drury Dr and Carl Hall Rd. Once you hit Canuck Ave, turn left onto the gravel pad!
Is this event accessible? Will there be accessible parking?
Yes! People of all abilities will be able to enjoy Earth Day at Downsview Park. Limited accessible parking (A1) will be available in the loop north of 70 Canuck Ave.
Will there be washrooms and water fountains?
Yes. Washrooms, handwashing stations and water fountains will be available. Please bring a reusable bottle as you can refill water at our water trailer.
Can I bring my dog?
Yes! Earth Day at Downsview Park will be a dog-friendly event. Our only requirement is that your dog is kept on a leash at all times except within Dogsview Park.
What if it rains?
This event is rain or shine! We will monitor the weather.
