Develop your tree ID skills on a guided walk through Downsview Park. Learn about the importance of native species and how to identify them. At the end of the tour, residents of Toronto can take home a free native shrub to plant on private property (while supplies last)!
This tour will be led by a group of youth who have been learning about the urban forest through the LEAF Young Urban Forest Leaders (YUFL) program! The YUFL program is a free training and mentorship program that seeks to support Toronto youth from equity-deserving historically excluded groups within arboriculture and urban forestry, including (but not limited to) women, non-binary people, Indigenous peoples, newcomers, 2SLGBTQ+ persons and racialized individuals.
Tree tour: 10:00 to 11:30 am
Native shrub giveaway: 11:30 am to 2:00 pm (while supplies last).
Shrub species that will be available while supplies last: bush honeysuckle, elderberry, meadowsweet, purple flowering raspberry and red osier dogwood.
*Make sure to wear comfortable clothes and don’t forget your hat and water bottle!

Participants under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Pets are not permitted at this program. Service animals are always welcome.
