Seed Share

Embody your inner squirrel and stash away some seeds for the winter at Downsview Park's Seed Swap! It's the perfect time to prepare for spring by building up your seed bank. Bring in any excess seeds from your garden or yard to swap with your fellow urban gardeners; we accept seeds from all native plants and food plants. 

By swapping seeds with our neighbours, we help promote biodiversity in our city, providing habitat and food for our vital pollinators. You may even discover a new favourite plant for your backyard oasis or planter box! 

How to participate in the Seed Swap: 

• Clearly label any seeds you bring in packages with the type of plant and variety. Example: French Marigold or Swamp Milkweed Yellow Pear Tomato
• Include the year the seeds were harvested so others will know how old they are.
• Include the source of your seeds if known If you know the ideal growing conditions, include those details on the package too.
• If possible, portion your seeds out into small envelopes/packages to make them easy to share.

• Seed cleaning
• Greenhouse art making
• Seed ball making
• Bird feeder crafts 

Location 

The Volunteer Greenhouse is located on the south side of 70 Canuck Avenue.

FAQ 

Do I need seeds to participate? No, you can attend without bringing your own seeds. 

Our Education programs are proudly supported by TD Friends of the Environment Foundation.
