The Mississaugas Circle draws inspiration from the Moccasin Identifier installation project and serves as a space for communal gatherings at Downsview Park.

Moccasin Identifier

Carolyn King, in collaboration with Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and The Greenbelt Foundation, launched the Moccasin Identifier to raise awareness about important cultural and historical sites and the ancestral presence of First Nations, Metis, and Indigenous Communities.

The Moccasin Identifier seeks to cover Canada in Moccasins, fostering awareness of Treaty responsibilities and Indigenous connections to the land. It aims to counteract the deliberate erasure of Indigenous presence over the past two centuries, encouraging people to recognize and honour the territory they inhabit, work, and engage in recreational activities, promoting the development of mutually respectful relationships as Treaty People.
